[edit] Origins

[edit] As A Gaming Group

The Guild was started in September, 2005, with eight players and two game masters. Since then it has grown to include fourteen players, most of whom have ran at least one mission. Generally, two missions are run simultaneously each week, with two GMs and two players sitting out. The GMs and the players sitting out rotate as required for fairness to all.

[edit] In Game

The Guild was formed around seven hundred years ago, when the original Blue Leader and Red Leader first joined forces to acquire moneys by killing things. Soon after, the Guild became incorporated, a business plan was drafted, and the first members were recruited. So began its long history of successfully killing things for money.

[edit] Organization

The Guild is ruled by a loose confederacy of Leaders. It is generally accepted that the final rule of law is determined jointly by Blue Leader and Red Leader. Other Leaders have defined roles within the Guild, but generally mercenaries will obey the closest Leader to them at the time.

The Guild requires an Oath of Service of new recruits. Essentially, it binds the initiate to the Guild for life - and any subsequent resurrections. A permanent unique tattoo added to the upper arm is often sufficient proof of Guild membership.

For intractable mercenaries, there is the threat of being beared, a fate considered worse than death, given the relatively low cost of resurrections these days.

[edit] Missions

A client will contact the Guild through "proper" defined channels. The Guild seldom turns away contracts, although clients tend to balk at the reasonable prices offered for the Guild's services. If the client agrees to the price for a given mission, a contract is signed and the mission is posted.

Each mission is sponsored by a Leader. Typically, four mercenaries are chosen by the Leader from a list of guild members that have expressed an interest in the mission. These mercenaries will then be allowed a little time for preparation before attempting to fulfill the contract. Failures are discouraged.
